From the magical island of Ibiza springs an inspiring set of Tarot cards & guidebook to divining their astrological & spiritual symbols.

This book was a collaboration between Astrologer & Author Tamara Sophia, Creator Dale Andre & Artist Amalia Chitulescu.

Here below, are written excerpts from three Major Arcana cards.

The Tower : If Es Vedra is the spiritual point of Ibiza, Dalt Vila is the material representation of man’s efforts for security. This physical construct protected the island in many wars. As enemies approached, control of the entire island was maintained or lost here, a fortified castle. It remains today as a symbol of the struggles of past wars and the rule of the present? In this card we see a clock tower exploding in fire and rage signifying violent destruction of our comfort and safety. The Tower and its protection are forever lost. The image shows bricks and mortar flying and people being tossed around and burned by the flames. The symbol of Mars is inscripted on the front of the tower emphasizing the aggressive force of the explosion. The Astrology: The Tower is represented by the planet of Mars in the element of Fire. Mars energy is masculine, bold and confident. It’s a fiery and sometimes explosive or violent energy, best described as abrupt, forceful and direct. Never subtle or gradual, Mars is the warrior willing to fight to the death, seeking to conquer and normally without plan or patience. Mars acts through aggressive force of will and pushes his purpose across in the fastest and most direct way, often a surprise to others. How the card relates to you: Beliefs are powerful and from them emerge the material structures of your life. This may include religious doctrines, mass media influence, corporate value systems and social traditions that no one questions. You’ve created the foundations of your life based on these influences; this is your physical reality. And when it blows apart, it may feel like your life has been destroyed. Examples of this are financial collapse, divorce, or sudden downfall in any area of life often caused by unexpected shocks and shattered illusions. The Tower reminds us that sometimes, the material structures that you’ve created can be demolished in a heartbeat, forcing you to adapt quickly. Old forms are instantly cleared out, and as the dust settles from a major shake-up, you are eventually brought to a positive breakthrough.

The High Priestess: The High Priestess rising up from the Sea, the High Priestess is the gatekeeper of spiritual knowledge. The palm trees surrounding her represent the door to the unconscious world from which she floats. She is the keeper of the secrets and mysteries of all life. The High Priestess represents the collective unconscious and the feminine divine power within all women as symbolized by the moon. A mystic and a mother to the universe, she is not grounded in the material realm and must rely only upon her own intuition. She wears a necklace with the symbol of Pisces and a hooded robe symbolizing her association with a secret society. The owl flying above represents her wisdom and ability for divination. The ancient scroll in her hand carries all the sacred esoteric knowledge of the ages. The pomegranate represents occult knowledge and the hidden dangers associated with it. The goblet at her feet represents the element and flow of water. Like an ethereal spirit, she listens and hears. She answers without words. The Astrology: The High Priestess is represented by the sign of Pisces and the element of water. Like its ruling planet Neptune, the energy of Pisces is intangible and without clear boundaries. Like the water element it reflects, Pisces is instinctive and elusive, flowing deeply in the mysterious ripples. There is no rationale, rhyme or reason; just openness to what is. Intuition is her most powerful gift, and sacred knowledge is embedded into her very being. She is also the keeper of secrets and private longings. Looking into the reflection of water has always been a form of divination, and Pisces the fish has lived in this spiritual realm since the beginning of time. How the card relates to you: She reminds us to look inside ourselves to find answers to all our questions. Our intuition can guide us in our most difficult times and help solve our deepest issues or problems. Don’t depend on the material world or rational logic to provide you with solutions. Rely on your own spiritual connection to the divine. Pay attention to your dreams as they are another source of intuition. They will help you understand the High Priestess within.

The Fool: In this picture we see the fool, the first card of the tarot deck and the beginning of our journey. Our fool is an adolescent, full of innocence and wonder. He sees life with rose-coloured glasses and he is ready to take a journey. This is a journey of life, and he sees the road paved with gold and endless opportunity. In the distance he sees the sacred place Es Vedra and feels inspired – this is a journey he must take to find out more about life and the unknown. He feels that the journey to the magical Es Vedra will teach him about life. He is dressed in red, representing his undying passion for this life journey. He feels that just by being near Es Vedra, answers and wisdom will come. He doesn’t really know what his next step is nor does he care; he sees it as an endless path of joy and happiness. He starts off this journey at the most spiritual point on the island with the belief that this door will open many more. With him is his white dog. White represents the element of air that gives him the objectivity he needs for this journey, because without it, he lacks direction. His dog helps him remember and stay connected to his inner creativity and focused intuition; because sometimes his own passions cloud his judgement and this could be his downfall if not careful. His wand with the orb of Uranus is his guiding light, and shows him the way. He is carefree, tossing cards of the Phoenician alphabet behind him, which pays homage to their cultural history on this island. He leaves their story behind him, with the intention to continue their quest into deeper spiritual knowledge. This journey is easy for him, as he cares not for the material world, and has no fear. The Astrology: The Fool is represented by the planet Uranus and the element of Air. This planet brings in the fresh new energy of change, necessary for growth in some area of our lives. This change, often made suddenly or abruptly, springs from the need for experimentation, exploration and taking risks. We are more in touch with the creative child within, unaware of material or earthly consequences. And without this baggage, we can experience our passions and live carefree. Astrological concepts are confidence, spontaneity the urge for radical change and faith and belief in the great unknown. How the card relates to you: The Fool represents the carefree attitude we all need to truly experience life. When we have challenges, fear often paralyzes us from growing. And the Fool reminds us that, to really grow and achieve great things, we must not be afraid. He does not care about the judgement of others and neither should you. He teaches us that as long as you are open to opportunity, you can have success. He reminds us too, that sometimes, looking at life through the eyes of an adolescent allows us to use and trust our instincts more easily. Sometimes blind faith and confidence are all you need to succeed.
